Guarantee and Aftercare

All work carries our written 10-year workmanship guarantee covering everything we install, repair or replace. Material manufacturer warranties apply on top. The guarantee excludes subsequent storm or impact damage (that is insurance) and alterations by others. We also recommend annual inspections for all properties over 20 years old. The inspection fee of £120–£250 is credited in full against any repair work booked. Many customers book on a recurring annual basis — we hold the details and schedule the visit automatically. In the Wey Valley climate, annual inspection is the most cost-effective maintenance investment a homeowner can make.

What Invalidates a Roofing Guarantee?

Three things can void a roofing guarantee: subsequent work by another contractor that disturbs the original installation, failure to address a known maintenance issue (such as a blocked gutter causing water damage to repaired work), and unauthorised modifications like cutting tiles for aerials without proper weatherproofing. Our guarantee documentation specifies exclusions clearly so there are no surprises. Storm and impact damage is excluded because it is insurable — your home insurance covers what our guarantee does not, and vice versa.

Insurance-Backed Guarantees

NFRC members can offer insurance-backed guarantees (IBGs) that survive even if the contractor ceases trading. The insurance policy sits with a third party and can be claimed against regardless of the original company status. We offer IBGs on all major projects as standard through the NFRC scheme. For smaller repairs, our company guarantee applies — and as a local Godalming business established since 2003, our continued presence is itself a form of security that national contractors operating remotely cannot match.

How Our Guarantee Compares to Industry Standard

Many roofing contractors offer "guarantees" that are actually worthless — a verbal promise from a sole trader with no assets and no insurance backup. Our guarantee is different in three specific ways. First, it is written: a dated document specifying exactly what is covered, for how long, and what is excluded. Second, it is backed: as NFRC members, we can offer insurance-backed guarantees that survive even if our company ceases trading. What Is NOT Covered

Transparency about exclusions is as important as the coverage itself. Our guarantee does not cover: damage from storms or impacts after our work (that is your home insurance), subsequent work by others that disturbs our installation, normal wear and tear on materials at the end of their design life, and cosmetic changes that do not affect performance (colour fading on tiles, patination on lead). These exclusions are standard across the industry and are stated clearly in our guarantee documentation so there are no surprises.
